Super c engine swap

Hey guys i have a super c and the ears are broke off the front of the block and i am wondering what is the biggest direct bt up motor that i can install

I've heard the C153 is a direct bolt in.

IH C-123, and C-135 will fit as a direct bolt up. A C-153 may fit, but it more than likely won't be a bolt up and go deal.

The C-153 had 3 different crankcase shape/bolt patterns, you need to get the correct one, or it won't fit. If you get one that was a power unit, the back of the crankshaft won't be drilled for a pilot bearing, so you would either need to modify the crankshaft or get a different flywheel with a bore for a pilot bearing and shorten transmission input shaft accordingly. Also, you won't have holes to mount the oil bath air cleaner on the side of the crankcase, so that would need to be re-worked. You will need to make a custom upper radiator hose connection and use the fan from the old engine. If I remember right, there is also one bell housing mounting hole that can't be used because of the starter hole on the C-153.

Is the 153 the only one with the starter hole? I have one like that & it has more snort than my other one.
