Hi guys i have a early 50s super c with the 12 volt electronic ignition system that will not start it cranks up and will not start have fuel and the coil is hot to the touch but if you pull the kill switch out to turn it on it just cranks but if you move the button for the ignition kill it try's to start have replaced the switch and cleaned the block surface were the starter mounts cleaned the ground if you move the button to kill the engine it trys to start as if the button is supplying power to the starter. battery with jumper cables on do it has full voltage someone said the wiring is not right but has been running for the last couple of years this way

IF the coil is hot sounds like you have a coil problem or the switch has an issue. Try jumping to bypass the switch if starts it's switch if not try changing coil with another tractor if starts coil bad.

I think it would be more accurate to say that you HAD an electronic ignition system.

Typically, the coil heating up during cranking would mean that the little $$$ EI module now identifies itself as a "short" rather than the "electronic switch" it was born as.

As if the button is supplying power to the starter. HHMMMM. If the starter motor spins when you are not pulling the starter rod, the wiring is not right. If it has a starter relay and starts with a button, the wiring is wrong. It should never spin the starter from moving the Ignition on off button. Jim
