Super C Farmall

As for a battery I have used the 20.00 mower batteries in 2 super C with good results, of course they may be 40.00 by now 🚜

Can those be set to output only 7-8 volts for a 6 volt system? I ask because the battery was a 6 volt, not a 12. I have not identified yet whether the coil is 6 volt or 12, been too busy since Saturday with other projects.
The answer to that is yes and it’s likely the reason that original style regulator is left on the tractor.

I have 2 questions

doesn’t look like this conversion took place in the last 10 minutes. How old is the battery? does it look fresh like someone just put it in to make the tractor run and move it on to the next place or does it look like it has been in there awhile? Does it charge up enough to test it? I assume you counted cells or had a part number?

2 what polarity (which post goes to frame ground)is the battery hooked up? Some of the leece Neville alternators could be the positive ground unicorn. Generally it’s generator positive ground alternator negative ground.

The battery was positive ground and is not new. I didn't try to charge it. The positive post is broken inside the battery case. The 2 and September are marked in the date sticker on the battery. There is no other date sticker on it that I'm seeing.

So napa commercial and it looks like it’s been awhile

My gut is saying it’s wired 6v especially with the positive ground but I’ve been wrong on this sort of thing before and sometimes can’t remember even on my own stuff.

If it was me and I needed a new battery and I had an alternator and regulator that I don’t know much about I would seriously consider doing the 12v conversion from brillman and change it negative ground and get rid of the ????

3 wire conversion like said above. I have a super c in the shed that was done with my homemade harness in this manner that I need to clean up make the harness better. But it works well

Plus side is if you get the real kit you know exactly how it’s wired when you are done

The leece Neville is neat but boy there are a lot of questions you just know that owner had it wired EXACTLY how he wanted it and liked his 6v.

Farmall had a big like think 10kw generator attached to the tractor in somewhat the same manner that I thought yours was when I saw it I’ve always thought those were neat
