super c front scraper/snow blade removal/install

54 super c narrow front .. I have a front snow blade that I would like to know the best way to install remove it.. it is moved up/down by the mid controls.... It works fine, I just want to know the best way to install it/remove it .. such as should I put the blade on a cinder block etc. before removing it...so far i have been able to remove and install it, but it is a lot of trouble, 2 men 2 hours to install (removal is faster, i just let the whole thing fall to the ground).. there must be a better way... any guidance from someone who has experience with this setup will be greatly appreciated... it is only 8 bolts and 2 action bars to install to tractor , but, what a bear it is to get everything lined up, there has to be some sort of cheat i am missing..

What blade do you have, a factory C-72 blade, or some cobbled-up custom mess?

This is a C-72 blade, and you need to be able to drive the tractor with enough precision to get the blade close to the mounting holes. Then it's just a matter of tipping up the arms, sliding the pins in, and connecting the lift arms:

IF you are struggling THAT much, you need to reposition the tractor and get it closer. Otherwise you will have to bull it into place.

If you can or know someone with modest
metalworking skills, you could make a retractable
landing gear similar to what they had for the C-254
cultivator set, or the mounted 2 bottom plow that I
dont know the model of that hung from the clutch
housing; the rear part hung on the rear axles. They
were simply 1/2 inch rods , bent into kind of a crow
foot, and secured with a clip and a nut with a handle
on it. No tools needed for operation.

I could never find the lift linkage for mine so I just drove it in the back of the shed, took the four bolts
out of the sides of the tractor and dropped the V shaped arms on the floor and back over it.
When I was a little younger, I'd just pick the back up and stand it straight up and wiggle it

against the wall, then brace or tie it to the wall.

For what Cs are selling for these days, buy another one
and leave the blade and chains on all year.

my plow looks like this one... when it off the tractor all the attachment points lay in a pile on the ground... am I suppose to leave some parts attached to the tractor?? (i remove the 2 bolts [each side] on the from side mounting plate along with the 2 bolts [each side] on the rearmost mounting plate along with the 2 top points that control the height of the blade..

What would happen if I hit a rock dead on? Buried in the snow...
Not gonna put such a thing on my 'C'! BTW, what is a C or SC worth anyways?

The reason the mount design is "ugly" is that the blade will also mount under the tractor as a grader. They do a fantastic job in grading. Out front, mostly only good for pushing loose stuff, eg snow.

works good for grading dirt roads/ 4 wheeler trails etc..knocks the bumps off of the center fills in ruts..light weight work where bigger equip. mostly makes a mess.

Are you trying to take the whole thing off in one piece, or are you leaving the mounting brackets on the tractor?

Support under both sides at the arrow, remove the four pins/bolts that are circled in red. Back out of the blade. Take the rest off in easy-to-handle pieces. To reinstall, reverse the steps. Trying to take the whole thing off in one big piece is crazy.

that makes much more sense.. I was removing the whole shabang in one piece... your way is much better.. I was sure there had to be an easiery way to deal with it...thanks
