Super C oil leak

You guys have been very helpful with all my SC questions well here is another. While running it has an oil leak right in front of the oil pan. I can tell it's not coming from the oil pan though. Its coming from the center of the engine. Is that a front seal that is leaking? If so how big a job is that to fix. Help is greatly appreciated. I've never done anything like that before. Thanks

Th front seal is likely the leak. The seal is a tough one to fix. The radiator must come off. The front pulley must be removed. The front timing cover is the last thing.
The seal is installed from the rear into the inside of the cover. (a poor design!)
The hardest part is likely to be the pulley. They are a tight press fit onto the crank snout and can easily be broken. A good sized bearing Splitter (look it up) is needed to be placed behind the pulley so that a large 2 arm puller can be used to pull it off. A bplt is screwed part way into the crank snout to take the puller screw so as to not mangle the snout threads. Even with this setup, the pulley hub is likely to need to be heated to 250 to 300 degrees to expand it enough to come off. there is nothing but this press fit holding it on. There may be a groove worn into the pulley hub where the seal rubs. That can be fixed with a Speedy sleeve. A bit of You Tube is good here. Polishing the crank snout and the inside of the pulley can make putting it back on easier. I recommend heating the pulley to about 250 before putting it on the crank. align the key so as to not have an issue with that. Jim

As JAN said, the problem is likely the front seal. However, start by making sure it isn't leaking all the way down from the rocker cover. Changing the seal is a lot of work that you don't want to do for nothing.

Yes, you will need to remove the steering box and front wheels as one assembly. If you have a cherry picker or someone to help you with it makes it easier. Before that you will need to remove the grill, hood, radiator, water pump if you have one or water inlet, fan assembly, steering shaft roll pin where it goes into the steering box and anything else that is fastened to the front cover. The front pulley will come off very hard and go back on just as hard. (highly recommend heating the pulley before trying to install it. To be safe plan on replacing the pulley.
