Super C wide front-turning

My little SC is a great tractor but it's pretty tough turning. Just wondering if you guys had any thoughts of how I could change that. Is there anything I could check. I jacked it up and everything seems pretty tight. I know a wide front is harder to turn than a narrow front just would like everyones thoughts.

I have a Super C with a wide front end and I don't think it steers hard. I guess that's a personal judgement. Is everything greased well on yours. Maybe some of the joints have some old hardened grease that needs cleaning up.

Super C's were EASY STEER , if it is steering hard then one or two things are going on , (1) you are way to use to things with POWER STEERING and need some time at the GYM or (2) you have and issue in the steering system , now as to where the issue is i can't say as i am not there to check it out . . So start buy jacking up the ft and start and inspect everything from the steering wheel on down.

Did you grease the ..knees.. while you had it jacked up? That is the vertical part that the steering arm sets above on each side. You are trying to make sure it has grease on the bearing on the bottom that is supporting weight. Have you driven any other vehicle or machine without power steering outside of a riding mower? Just so you know any manual steering unit will take a great deal of effort to turn the wheels when the unit is not in motion. So you try to turn when it is in motion.

I am amazed at the problem of friction that a little grease will solve yet people will buy parts ,then complain about the price of grease. The grease is the cheapest maintenance that can be bought. I would guess the front end needs greased or new bearings and bushings.

Check the toe? If it's toed out it will take more leverage to get it to start turning, you may note scrubbing on the inside faces of the tires as well.

Good idea about the grease fittings, another thing to check is the steering sector. Theres a pipe plug for checking the oil level and also the top plug has a vent hole in it. Maybe the oil leaked out or water found its way in.
