Super M LPG

I've got a Super M with what looks like the LPG system done in TX by IHC...factory set up in other words. The serial number indicates a high altitude tractor. My question is did they use high altitude pistons in ALL of those conversions?

Lot of SMTA had a D or E code with high altitude pistons that were finished off LP at Texas. But can't say all did. IH built regular SM LP tractors and used N code for 2500 ft. and up. If it's a regular SM conversion it's probably just a SM built with high altitude that they managed to get. Or high altitude pistons were installed when converted and code added.

Just curious...do you know what part of Texas it came from? I ran a SM LP as a teen in Texas...The old man died, the estate was auctioned off while I was away. Needle in haystack I know.

The super m uses a cross mounted tank with ensign fuel system if it is a factory lp, will either have a C or N code on engine and chasis serial number. If it is a western steel tank that runs long ways with the steering shaft then it is a Lubbock conversion. No Smta tractors were built at rock island as factory lp, the ones that were order as lp were shipped to Lubbock with HA pistons and coded to indicate that but did not have any fuel tank or fuel system when leaving the factory, all parts were installed in Lubbock using western steel tanks and ensign fuel systems. Go on facebook on the international harvester group and try and get in contact with Tony Ramos and ford Baldwin they know lp.
