Super M steering u-joint

I have an early Super M that needs the steering shaft u-joint replaced. YTmag has one listed with measurement of 2.305 inches across cap to cap, with a 0.968 inch cap diameter. The measurement on the one I'm needing to replace is 0.970 cap dia.(measured with my cheap mic) but the cap to cap measurement is 2 1/8 inches. Does anyone have any experience with this? Will the new ujoint from YTmag work or do I need to keep looking?
Thanks

I can't speak for that one. Though I have heard of replacing them with a regular universal then either putting a bolt or key in the shaft so they both hold well. Doing that you need to measure everything for length so it might need the shaft shortened or a longer one depending on the joint.

If you do not understand what Catguy is talking about, I take what he is saying as replacing the original yokes with an assembly. For you question the difference in the across the cap measurement may not mean anything a far as whether the joint will fit or not. The distance across the snap ring grooves will determine if it will fit or not. I would make sure you get an email stating that they will pay return shipping and no restocking fee if it does not fit. I have no personal experience with use of those joints on a tractor.

Used red you got it. Would be easier than fooling around trying to get caps in nad out of crosses without losing needles in caps. A novice will understand much better after one experience of this. With the assembly all that would be needed is to make a completed fit for length.
