Considering selling.

What is value in SE area for 54 super M. Fully restored. No shortcuts made. Live hydraulics. 3pt aftermarket modified and beefed up. New tires. Runs perfect. What is top end price you see them selling for.

2500.00 for tires, 3000.00 for paint, so does no short cuts mean its a professional job? as no picture to go by? as you know you will never get what gets put into the restoration on a common tractor. prices of old tractors is down nowadays. and 1954 should have a torque amplifer so that adds value. can be 5000.00 to 10,000.00 no way of knowing without proof of work.

Yes I know market is dropping. Also know you never get restore money back. I didn't do it for that and planned on keeping it.

It does not have TA. Has a 450 (281) motor with LP head. So it's not original. I restored to new condition as possible. Replaced things whether they appeared to need it or not. It's the first restored tractor I own that doesn't leak a drop on concrete somewhere. Lol.

I was just curious market. I haven't decided fir sure I'm ready to let her go.

Thanks.

(quoted from post at 21:30:47 07/22/20) 1954 should have a torque amplifer so that adds value.

Being a 1954 does not automatically make it a Super MTA. IH made around 650 Super Ms early in 1954, presumably to use up parts already in the supply line. Serial number 51977 is the first serial for a 1954 Super M.

I agree, though. You're not going to get anywhere near what you have in it. It's just a Super M, and the people with fat wallets looking for a Super M with everything done to it are far and few between.

You might want to wait for the Farmall Land USA auction to see what a restored Super M brings to get an idea of what you should value yours at.

Thanks. Yea I don't even know $$ I have in it. I don't have the courage to add it up. Lol. Not to
mention the hours and hours. I'll look at the auction. I was just considering letting go to make room for
a new project.

That's an extremely nice tractor, especially the deep red color.

Only thing you might get nit-picked about is the grille. It should have the large holes for the newer style cultivator mounts in 1954. You're not alone, as I have both a Stage II Super H and Super M, both 1953's, that have the wrong grilles in them too.

Nice machine, well presented. it has 2 real world issues, one is that it isn't quite modern enough to be desirable for a user/buyer. The second is thwt it is pretty common. My rough guess is that if the right collector, or someone needing that (probably) 65hp machine, it could bring $4000. Jim

Wondering has the serial number plate been changed? Looks to be mounted backwards than standard. Not up to date on what stuff is selling for now. You should no what you have and it's a 54. In the past maybe 9 out of 10 SM advertised as 54 models I went to look at turned out not to be a 54. Lots of them were Louisville SM and they thought the high number was a 54. Grill could be the correct type, not all 54 SM had a different grill. Wouldn't mind to have a 54 myself, but to be honest would want one with a original engine to pay on high side. Would just get the best one of any year otherwise.

i cant see why any serious would not pay 6500.00 all day long for that tractor if it was your bottom line. good well done job.

Theres not many IH collectors in my area of the SE, but around here thats a $2500 tractor. Now, to a local puller it may be worth $3500 - $4000 since you have a "bigger" engine in it.

Highest temp paint I could find. It's been ran and worked. Right below clamp seems to be only place it gets to hot to stay. I have no idea how long it will last.

Yes I changed tag. Could hardly read original but I have it. I've looked it up and what I found was 54.

Yes I replaced grill with closest I could find and afford. I think someone had used original for a dozer blade. Lol. But I do have it.

Thanks Barnyard. All you guys helped me get it done. My hydraulics modifications worked out well too
thanks to the group.

Yes I changed grill. The original seemed to be used as a dozer blade. All messed up. But I still have it.

i noticed the muffler and pipe right off the bat and it takes away from the value, pipe is too high and wrong muffler and wrong color. that is one thing that sticks out. and air cleaner .

Here in central Iowa, you would be lucky to get $4000 for that tractor. I know it’s a nice tractor but the market just is not there anymore. Young people who collect tractors want tractors made in the 60s and 70s! Anyway very nice tractor!

Rustred.

I personally like the contrast of the black. I have a chrome one but it's more than I like for my ears. Lol.

It didn't have a muffler at all when I got it. What would the RIGHT one be. Curious.

Also air cleaner is like it was. What's up there.

I'm curious but never planned to make it all original but to my preferences.

I do like to know all I can about it.

Thanks. You have always been a big help.

if you wanted it to look more original then the muffler bottom end would be just inside to hood and enough room for the band clamp above the hood. your manifold pipe is to long. as for the air cleaner i can't see the jar on it. and on my tractors i have the jar to the front or hood side. many people argue that the jar goes to the tank side. i say you dont drive around in reverse with your boat do you. another thery is standard tractors are to the hood side and farmalls are to the tank side, i like it facing the hood .

10-4. All that already fixed. I think this pic was first time it came out of shop. I don't think it even had a jar. Air cap just sitting there and muffler too. It is sucked down there tight now. Clamp is right near the hood. I hate the ones where clamp under the hood. Bolt rust up then someone from years past cuts out a huge hole in the hood. This one was that way when I got it.

Thanks.
