Neighbor has Super MD. Her husband owned and passed away about 10 years ago. She's selling it to a grandson. It runs, but needs tires. Sheet metal is straight. Sorry, I don't know anything else about it's condition. Any body have an idea what a fair price would be? Not looking for top dollar, just a decent price.

The tires will be a 1200 dollar investment if new (used tires, unless found locally) are almost more with shipping. So if it will allow cranking on gas startup and seems to have uniform cranking feel on all 4, probably the 500. If stuck, or needing serious help to get it going, free. It is a complex tractor with complex gasoline start diesel run construction. We can help make it functional. If it needs major engine or injector work free is still not much of a bargain. Is the grand son mechanically skilled? if not and not much in tools it will be a disappointment all around. Selling it on this site, and getting a much smaller tractor may be an option. Does the grandson have a use for it? I have owned one and it required 40 hours of high skill mechanical effort to fire it up. Jim

It may not be as much about being able to use or work on the tractor, as it is about it being "Grandpa's tractor."

Who is asking? If the grandson is asking, and Grandma could really use the money, he should be as generous as he can reasonably afford, as much as $1500 or $2000.

If Grandma wants him to have the tractor, then a token amount like $500 would be more appropriate, or give it to him.

some of you guys didn't pick up on the OP said it runs  a [b:1b04407803]super [/b:1b04407803] MD is a little more collectable than an MD. but without a better description appraising this tractor is just guessing
AND if theres other family involved in Grandpas Estate /property it can get ugly......speaking from experience :(

A running Super MD is worth more than $500 - I always take my time and eventually I find used tires reasonably priced. Its worth close to that for scrap

Having owned one that took time to get to the point that it ran, I will say that if the tractor has set "in barn" for 10 years it does not run. If in fact it has been operated periodically in that time, or fixed to run in the last few months, I revise what I said. It is now worth 1000, and or free. Jim

yes I did pick up it runs, it is family and I don't see any reason gramma would be sell it to her grandson for full value. for strangers yes you would want actual value. give it to the grandson and keep in family, isn't that how it generally goes.

most families yes, but sometimes money is all that matters . When we sold my Dads' equipment my brother and I just let it go to keep the peace with 4 sisters
