Super mta head bolts

Gonna be installing my new head bolts this week on my super mta, is there any torque spec or certain way to install them? Havent seen anything in the IT manual. But figured Id check else where just to be safe.

You are reffering to the HEAD STUDS . When installing in the block make sure the holes in the block are clean and dry myself i never run a tap or thread chaser down in this block hole and run them down till they are what i call snug . I HAVE NEVER PUT A TORQUE WRENCH ON THEM . Now the nuts get pulled down to 115 ft.lbs

yep, i dont know why a mechanic would need info on this straight forward simple operation. no manual will give you relevant info a mechanic should already know. what you need to know is in the manual. i know my work boots get put on last.

FYI people like you and youre idiotic comments like this one are why young folks like me dont mess with this crap. Instead of being a @?? Why dont you offer some helpful knowledge. Simple question that didnt need that dumb reply. You must be a lonely miserable dude my friend get a life.

Good advice. Clean and dry. Remember there are long and short studs. See link
I lube the upper threads with engine oil.
Start by putting all nuts on and tightened to touch only. Then starting at the center (front to back) pn the carb side, and making X patterns across the width I tighten them all to 10 Ft pounds. Using the same pattern I then go in 20 pound increments to specifications. Jim

This reply ought to be good, my apologies in advance from the YT community. He knows his stuff for the most part, sometimes his methods of conveying his knowledge is a little bumpy.

ooh yes i am one ornary, misarable not lonely dude and get along just fine and when some young folk posts a question with out the proper info makes me wonder , guess the insecure dont like my hard on no sugar approach. lol. thanks for understanding. i have seen the very same post from other mechanic's about manuals on here also that i just posted and i dont think its idiotic, thanks again! post the proper info ,... get the proper free answer, its that easy. vet gave the proper info he presumed u wanted. my advise is the same as his, your welcome. have fun!

Not the best picture but maybe you can make it out. Two with W is where washers go. Nuts tighten to 113 ft. pounds IH specs in 1977.

Thanks for that post D Slater, you answered my question on where the 2 washers went. Can I ask what manual you have that showed the torque specs? Also do 2 head studs stick up a little higher for the governor bracket?

4 cylinder carbureted engines, service manual ISS-1039-1. C-264 only service manual gives 110 to 115 for nut torque. Think jim pointed out the throttle bracket stud location.

Thank you for the info. I'm rounding up parts to put my C 248 back together.
