We just purchased at auction what we thought was a W4. When I was taking photos for our files I noticed the serial number is Model S W 4 Serial number 1520. I am thinking we have a Super W4 but would like to verify. What changes were made to the Super to make it stand out?

Disc brakes, they will be round casting in front of each axle with 5 bolts around the perimeter. The W4 and regular H had band brakes, the covers were stamped steel, sort of tear drop shaped.

yes its a super if the original tag says so. lots of little differences. it will have the little square grill badge, it will have sealed beam lights, bigger carburetor which will look like the w6 carb. will have a pull rod on the starter instead of the foot switch. it will have disc brakes. it could have hydraulics. it will have the super front hubs. my 1953 w4 serial number 34113 has all the super options on it as its right at the end of production. so your serial number tag is what u go by. yours's would be a 1953 super.
