You said..."The whole thing is a scam ! It?s all grown on a farm so who cares not me ."

So, you don't have a problem lying to people about selling your product?

svcummins What does "The organic and anti gmo side sure doesn?t mind why should I?"

What the heck kind of rebuttal is that?.....

so sv thinks it ok to flat out lie to get things sold,, Boy he would not last long around here,, folks here care little for that and news like that spreads like wild fire,, I put people that do that in the same category as the low life's who steal as it is the same thing to me in the end sad I thought he had better values and morals than that

I must be missing something..the largest "Homegrown" supplier in my area say Homegrown....yep on land he leases as far south as LA. He can sell his "homegrown" strawberries in Feb. But did he grow them or did he buy them from other growers.

I have walked the Farmers market here in St. Cloud almost weekly. We have a small one on campus every Monday in the fall. (the plum jam comes from trees I planted in 2006. There are almost no "imported to site from others" goods sold. If they are, they are labeled as such. I don't think it is OK to "rebrand" as local, food, or hard parts for that matter. If we decay into acceptance of dishonesty, we fail as a civilization. Jim

Boy, ain't that the truth! As it continues to get worse...younger people think there is nothing wrong with it......it all stems from leading by example from the parents.

I dont think the public has lost much respect -- however I dont think they have any idea what a farmer is now a days . Most still harbor the notion of the (like you ) straw hat and the house with chickens living under it . I would probably be the same if it wasent for the colder environment. Kind of the green acers idea. Most farming now it industrialized and on a large scale. They could care less about respect-- the owner probably never goes to the farm and only sees the bottom line.

You're wrong in my area people see farmers all the time its a city/urban/rural mix and the different type farmers. Some farm like they did 50 years ago (me in this group),some have 400ft confinement operations in all in between. But I'll say talking to people in general farmers have lost some of the public's respect, a lot has to do with the way many farmers milk the taxpayers for money.

There are a lot of differences between US and Canadian farming - unless they are brought forth we never see what is different . I understand that in the US there are a lot of subsidies-- other than that I really dont know . I know here that farmers collect on crop insurance -- how should I say "habitually" where as in the states it is the exception.
As to locally here farmers are very well respected --- as it is a farming community and without there input -- well there wouldn't be much of any thing.

Yet the same people have no problem with the lies spread about gmo and how laboratory meat is better than real meat ? Or how about almond milk theres no milk in it but I guess it just depends on what side of the lie your on whether it?s right or wrong ? You can do it but somebody else shouldn?t that?s the true problem

What I was saying was your Reputation is a fragile one you want to be labeled a Liar then go for it,, see how soon those jobs and sales you have now last,, I have been at this many many decades longer than you have seen many others think like you,, they did not last long or have repeat customers,, get off the high horse saying if some can do it so can I and rise above that thinking,, I hate to see young folks get a bad rep,, takes you ten times longer or more to earn back a good one that was lost in one bad decision,, just friendly advise,, like all advice you can chose to listen, and then decide if it fits you or ignore it right off like you are doing and see how that works out for you in the long run,, that is 100% your choice,, fact is a liar is a liar in people's eyes and word travels faster than a wild fire,,, like I was told in the 60's if your neighbor jumps off a bridge are you jumping with him or watching,, again your decision,, your thinking here to me is going to bite you,, but sometimes that is the best way you will learn,, not like most every one of us here has not had to learn a lesson the hard way

It seems people dont think much about lying anymore. At least not around here. I see contractors, mechanics, store employees, etc do it all the time. They break something on a job, spill expensive material, and tell customer it was already broke so they can charge for it. Lots of people dont have a business license but people dont care. Doesnt seem to hurt their reputation or business enough for them to stop. Society lets it slide if a dollar is involved. Its not right but it happens. I figure karma will get them sooner or later.

It is funny how some people have a problem with some of us simply wanting a truthful and clear label, I do not understand if gmo's and chemically treated product is so great, why they are afraid to simply have it on the label. I prefer, natural products, and of course some of those labeled natural is a lie as well, but I simply do not wish to add toxic chemicals to my plate when i can avoid it. If others wish to take their chances, let them. I just want a clear easy choice. If i have to pay a little more for something that I value, that is my choice. Why some people get extremely defensive unnatural produced products is beyond me. People keep trying to blame failing farms on everything except what is really causing it. Seed producers selling overpriced seed, same producers suing farmers who avoid buying their product, Equipment manufacturers selling over priced and unreliable equipment, and the EPA and their stranglehold which is in turn making the equipment unreliable.
