Switch cabs

I have a 85 GMC crew cab pickup. I would like to remove the crew cab and put a standard cab in its place. I could use a longer bed and a shorter cab. Has any one done this? What problems will I have?

probley have to make cab mounts in the back the only style of bed would be a flat bed

how long is the truck bed now, i have a 83 standard cab flatbed, the bed is a 12 footer, [ some rear overhang, but not more than a foot or so, i was told that if this truck had been a pickup it would have been a crewcab with a 8 foot bed, if your truck has a 6 foot bed now you may be able to obtain the proper mounts for the standard cab and long bed, if its a long bed now your going to have frame left over, as well as the rear wheels wont be in the wheelwells on the truck bed without a huge gap between the bed and the cab back, if you get into this and need some measurements let me know, mine is a 1 ton, but the 3/4 and one ton should be the same frame i think and the trucks are close enough in years to be the same
