T0-35 Governor

I have a problem with the governor not functioning at all, it was replaced about a year ago, and never seemed to be quite right, now it's non-existent. I'm in the process of ordering a new tachometer to help set it according to that, any rough ideas of why it worked and then stopped? Is there any way to tinker with it to try and dial it back in?

You might toss in a CLUE or two s two what's going on...

If the governor simply fails, the engine will overpseed.

If the governor SPRING fails you won't be able to get the engine UP TO SPEED.

Various adjustment problems or even carburetor problems will cause SURGING or slow response.

WHICH of these problems are you having?

Governor is not working at all that I can tell, it will run away from you going downhill, and you have to throttle up to make it go uphill, the engine runs fine, it will idle great and run up to speed without any problems, just no help from the governor to slow it down, or pick it up when the engine is under a load. A new governor was put in this spring "due to this same problem when we bought the tractor", it just wasn't dialed in because the tachometer was broken, it was close but now it's back to not functioning at all.

If you need the written information about re-setting the Governor, email me at [email protected] and I will send it to you.It is not straightforward unless you know what you are doing or have some guideance....John

Were you succesful in repairing your governor? I have had the same exact symptoms on my F40. I follwed John's instructions to the letter, the gov is new, the springs are new and the linkage is snug. I am at my wits end with this thing and have the feeling I am missing something simple. Please email me and let me know how you came out.
thanks
