Tach Cable Lube ???

I have noticed on many old and newer tractors that the tach doesn't work because of cable problems. I have replaced mine and am wondering just what to use for lube and how often.

I would use a light coating of Lubri-Plate and check it once a year and apply another light coat if it looks dry. Hal

what about graphite powder,or graphite powder mixed in a light oil. would this be too gummy???? ntw rosebud.

Yep, That would be around 18 miles to Z-Town.

I'm down in Clermont Co. (East side of Cincinnnati) and go through that area fairly often when I go visit the Out-laws, who live up near Youngstown.

There is a good group of Massey fans centered in and around your area. Rushville and Frazeysburg etc. Are you a member of the MHF -Ohio Club? I just joined and what a fun group.

Jeff, There is a group in Licking County that covers a lot of different tractors, green, red and grey ones. I have had a couple of them out here for help and beers. I completly rebuilt this 150 and it is replacing my old 9N. It is heading for SC, where we have a cabin and 80 acre woodlot. It will be used for mowing pathways and grading roadway.

I WOULD GO TO YOUR LOCAL WEED WACKER DEALER AND GET A TUBE OF LUBE THAT THEY US FOR FLEXABLE SHAFTS IN WEED WACKERS THEY SPIN MANY TIMES FASTER THAN YOUR TACH CABLE AND IT WILL LAST A LONG TIME. THIS GREASE IS MADE JUST FOR THIS PURPOSE WITH TACK AGENTS TO KEEP IT IN PLACE ANY FLOWABLE LUBE WILL EVENTUALLY RUN TO THE LOWEST POINT AND DO YOU VIRTUALLY NO GOOD AFTER ABOUT ONE DAY!
