tach/governer problem

OK mighty tractor knowledge base.
51 side mount

Bought a new tack and cable. Old cable sheeth did not have cable in it.

Installed the new tach., and cable. Started the tractor no motion on the tach. I took the end off the gov. and the cable square end is not out beyond the sheath. I took the cable off and removed it and stuck the end in the gov. It does not seem to be biting on anything.

Is there something missing inside of the gov. As the end of the cable is just about flush with the end of the sheath attachment not sticking out.

Any info would be useful. Not much by looking at the pic's in the IT manual.

You are probably missing the "roll pin" inside the governor.Be sure your governor is equipped to accept the pin.[hollow end on shaft] don b

OK I guess I'll end up taking the gov. off to check this out. But also it's like there should be something sticking out of or at least near the end of the gov . tach drive port for the cable to slip into. Does some one have a pic of the tach output on their tractor. Also could some one have put an older 8N gov. shaft that did not have a proof meeter??
