Tachometer on a F706D

I have a Farmall F706D. S/N: 3082 S-Y. My tach has quit working. Looking for advice on where to begin repair.

Well what ya may find is a cable that looks good but it is woren just enough and the drive ends are slipping in there holes due to them being wore out . You may also find that the tach head has sized up . I have had some luck with getting the heads freed up with a little time and some Zep . The tach head froze up on my 806 and i had to replace the cable and housing also . Took about and hour of fiddling around of spray a dab and work it by hand spray a dab more and work it , Been fine for the last couple years.
 
If the needle bobs when you turn it, the head is fine. If the cable is good then I would guess the gear in the worm is bad. This is down on
the bottom end.
