i have a td-6 crawler and just learning about it and it needs wired up but what kills the spark when you switch over to diesel? Is there a throttle for the engine? thanks brad

There is a switch on the intake manifold that grounds the magneto, or shuts off the ignition voltage when switched to diesel. There is no operator controlled throttle for the start cycle. There is an adjustment but not handy. The start RPM is based on operating as fast as it will run with a small carb. Jim

That switch is located at the front of the manifold. If you take a look you will seek where it goes in.

Jim - I thought only the 650s had an actual adjustment??? The rest seem to vary based on choke quite a bit.

Jim - Early production diesel carburetors were provided with an adjustable air valve that acted as a throttle. However the only way to adjust it was to remove the carburetor and change the air valve clearance. Late production carburetors did not have the air valve adjustment - you simply got whatever RPM the carb wanted to give.

Don't know when the change was made. A friend's late 40's TD-6 has the adjustable air valve; another friend's Super MD does not.

TD and some power units come with the adjustable idle setup. IH later sold the carburetors for farm tractors, but stated the adjusting rod and supports must be fabricated for on seat adjustment.
