TE 20 heads difference in combustion chambers

Running TIde

I have an old TE20 with 80mm pistons. The head is cracked. I have located an used replacement that is also came from an old TE20 80mm (i,e, the water pump mounting is on the block). They appear very similar but the combustion chambers are different (one being D shape and the other straight). I am pretty sure that mine is the original head as all indications are that it had never been removed. Has anyone encounter this difference in the heads? Are the two compatible? The only difference that I can tell is in the size so combustion chambers. Any help with this much appreciated.

The TE20 has a relative.......the TEA20. I have reasons to believe the heads on the TEA 20 varied in design, as some engines were engineered to operate on Kerosene, others to operate on Gasoline.
Now the TE20..........Hmmm.....?

John,

Thanks for replying. Your answer was quite helpful. While I had thought my model was a TE20, your email made me investigate. It does seem to be a TEA20 and not a TE20. There no aluminum plate but from what I have been able to read most of the distinguishing ID features make it a TEA20 (sloping valve cover, oil filler on rear left top) The serial number stamped on the engine left side is S96385E. There is another number stamped on the right 13110 with no letters. The grill is two piece and not three which is the one feature that doesn't match a TEA20 but who knows if it is the ordinal. So now the fundamental question still remains. Will the alternate head that I have located be compatible - it has the straight sides and my is curved - d-shape. I don't know if the other head is actually off a TE20 or TEA20. WIll try to find out from the seller, but in any case will be different. I am not to knowledgeable about the technicalities involved but understand the difference affects the compression levels. Any insights/help much appreciated

Pic is of a TEA 20...Gasoline Engine...
Tractor assembled in Coventry England,6 volt system, has been on my property since new.
Engine pics are of a spare engine I have..S # 251639
The pic of the beautifully finished Ferguson, I believe, is that of a gentleman from Australia,"Charles whom visits "YT" from time to time. This gentleman is very well acquainted with the TEA-20 Ferguson Family. This pic I believes indicates this model is not a Gasoline model?
Does your ENGINE look like any of the engines in these pictures ?
If your Tractor has a continental Engine,ENGINE parts are not interchangeable between the "Continental Engine" and the "Standard Engine".
