i own a 30 harry-fergerson serial # on dash above steering wheel reads TE 77746 motor continetal # Z129 302490 it also has air intake on dash. What do i have ? I can't find anything on a TE30. thanks

Are you sure the serial number on top of the dash is showing a TE? On the serial number on the dash tag are the numbers at the top of the tag or at the bottom of the tag? Does the tag say Coventry, England, or Detroit, Mich.? Is the air intake on the dash woven wire or a flat plate with holes in it?

There is no TE-30!

It may have been rebadged with a different serial number plate. We had anothere TO-30 on this forum last week with a TO20 serial number. Check the engine serial number then Go to the FENA website. Jim in OH published some data correlating engine serial numbers with approximate year of production for TO-30"s. That can provide some info as to the year of your machine.

Other Items to check to see if it is a US built or Covenrty, England built tractor are:
How does hood open? (one lever or 2 "T" handels)
Is the shift lever cover plate by it's self or is it one piece with the steering column. Finally, on the aft face of the rear axle housings is it cast with TO ##### or "LEYS"

In all cases the 1st example is a US built feature and the 2nd a feature that points to the UK.

If you have the UK features then the SN TE77746 can be correct, however the engine has been replaced at some point. If you have the US features look again at the SN most likely you have TO77746. A TO-30

If a mix then perhaps a replacement steering column.

Let us know.

Jeff

Ok you have verified a late year 1948 TE20 serial number plate.

I will go out on a limb and say you have a TO-30 with a replacement steering column.

This is based on the fact that the in dash air cleaner was not used in 1948 on any models... (Unless John tells me otherwise)

Here are some other features to look at.
The hood side panels is there a break in the sheet metal in the curve?

Is the word "LEYS" cast into the aft face of the rear axels?

Are your break drums ~12" dia or ~16" (cant remember actual numbers)

How many holes are in the seat? 4 or 9?
