Te20 rear tyre valve

Went to check and top up rear tyre pressure. On removing the pump the tyre valve will not shut, despite poking the valve pin and despite turning this way and that with a valve removal tool.

Suspect valve is broken- is the whole screw in valve unit replaceable or is it just a case of removing and replacing the inner valve itself? If so, whist size valve is it please?
Thanks.

Sounds like you are dealing with a water fill stem and valve core housing. Need a picture of the stem and core housing you are looking at as there are two different types of core housings. Almost all valve core housings will let you change the Schrader valve in them. The Schrader valve used, is the common one used on most tube and tire valve stems.

Any of this look like yours?

Thanks for this- looks like the top one. If its a standard schrader
valve like a modern car thats great news- Ill extract and fit a new
one. Great stuff.

There should be a readily available Schrader valve, just like the ones inside your car/truck valve stems, in that core housing. If the inside of the core housing is messed up you can get That style new core housings at most commercial tire shops, equipment dealers, auto parts stores, even Tractor Supply. The old-style core housing is not stocked in many places.
