TE20 voltage regulator

I put on a new voltage regulator on my 6 volt TE20. The Amp gauge pegs out and I even have a new battery. Why???

Stuck cut out or defective voltage regulator? Tried giving it a tap or taking the cap off and checking the points?

Just a thought - it was a 6 volt regulator, not 12 volt off the later TEA20?

It won't be a new battery for long if it is getting max charge.

I'll try checking the points of the regulator. It is a new 6 volt regulator for a Lucas Generator on a TE20. Thanks for the thoughts...

I picked up a V-Reg for my '50 TE from triodiode on fleabay for about $25.
I seem to remember it was an "A" circuit V-reg.
