tea 20 carb

hello,im a new owner to a 55 tea 20 with a zenith 24t-2 carb,the interconnection rod and the interconnection tube have been welded together, thus when the throttle is opened the choke closes,the min max main jet adjuster was less than 1/3 of a turn opened, any more and she smokes when you open throttle quick.
can i just remove this linkage till the weather warms up or leave as is untill the weather warms up?

Down in southern Australia, few Fergies even have an "interconnection rod" fitted between the carb ad the choke. Don"t know why maybe they seized up in practice. Its very easy to start the tractor without that interconnection rod.
