tea-20 id plate

hi there, my tea20 has lost it's steering column id plate to corrosion.

Is there anywhere else on the body that i can find the serial number and is there somewhere i can get a replacement id plate that i can stamp the number into?

Welcome to the league of disappointed Ferguson orphans .
A great failing was the poor quality alloy used for the serial plate , if it didn't corrode it just fell off by itself anyway .
There are casting numbers next to the transmission dipstick . These will tell you the date when that was made . A rough enough guide is two weeks after that for a guess at the range in where your serial number lies.

These people have a good reputation ;

Even though they are called ' brass plates ' they also make high quality alloy ones . Postage should be minimal for such a small thing .

is anyone able to show me where the build date casting is? i have a howard reduction box if that helps?

also i have managed to source a blank id plate from an ebay seller, which looks mint. i would like to be able to roughly date my tractor and maybe just put the first few digits of the serial onto the plate.

Info from Internet.

As per John Deere's photograph .
Right hand side vertically adjacent to the transmission dipstick .
Day . Month . Year of decade 1950 , or if an early tractor 1940 .
There are a few examples that don't have these numbers cast , forgetfulness or a rush to complete quotas perhaps .
Other places a date can be found are the base of a Lucas coil if original , the body of the Lucas generator if still there . Rarely a date is found on the radiator plate .
If your tractor is an Australian delivery and landed in NSW , Victoria or QLD it might have a dealer import number stamped into it . Each state had a different location , let me know your state and I might be able to help .

Hi
There are a few ways to ID the year of manufacture also get close to the serial number
I have an attachment that can help, it asked for you to fill in various serial and casting numbers that will help me
I have various original manufactures books that lists when parts were superseded and also the serial number of the tractors that the new parts started on, so using the information you give I can research it for you

If you email me at; [email protected] and put "Help Me To Help You" as a reference I will send it back

I have a 1949 TED that I restored years ago and am about to get it out again for shows, looking on the tax disc it hasn't been out to shows since 2010
