If you have [u:c0d9207f65]not[/u:c0d9207f65] removed the cam shaft sprocket from the cam shaft and it is the original sprocket, there should be two punch marks, one in the cam shaft sprocket, one on the crank shaft sprocket. Line the two punch marks up and the timing should be correct:

You can just see the punch mark on the cam shaft sprocket, to the left of the lowest governor weight.

If there are no punch marks or you removed the cam shaft sprocket, I suggest you buy a manual.

There should be scribe lines on the Chain Wheels, if there are pop marks the Chain wheels then they have been changed so you can"t be 100%sure that they are correct. The Camshaft Chain wheel is the one that has the adjustments and it has quite a number of positions. If the chain has broken, is it because a Governor weight has come off and jammed the chain. Check the weight and plate closely for wear. Also check the Bearings and oil seal on the Governor shaft in the Timing Case for wear as they are needle bearings and they will stick if there is any wear and the governor will not operate. You will need to reset the Governor if you have all this apart, ask if you need the info on how to reset.
I am sending you the information about setting the Valve Timing direct to [email protected]
