TEA20 clutch adjust?

Morning: I have a TEA20 sepaerated and waiting for a new pressure plate/throwout bearing to arrive. I have read from the achrives here that a measure of 1.890 inches is to be adjusted from the flywheel to finger tip of the pressure plate.
Am i reading this correct? or is it from the clutch plate surface to finger tip? and i subtract the thickness of the clutch plate form the 1.890 inch measure and use that?
It a nice simple machine, but its obovious the clutch replacment from last year[ not me :)] was not set right to release the bearing from turning.
Better to check and make sure
Tks

1.89" is correct. This is measured from the Flywheel face to the tip of the Clutch levers. When you have set them, operate the clutch a few times so everything will settle down and then check them again before you lock the nuts to the adjuster screws. You don't get much trouble with Clutches on these tractors, any problems you do get is usually mis-use (often riding with your foot on the pedal and too many revs when manoeuvring) or lack of adjustment on the pedal. Make sure that you set the Clutch pedal clearance when the tractor is hot i.e. 3/8" under the footrest to the top of the pedal lever. While the Engine is out, make sure that the Cross-shaft is not tight and easily returns when you press the pedal down. If is it at all tight, slide out the cross-shaft and clean the shaft, but do not lubricate the shaft or the bushes.....John

Canadian Morning here, zero degrees, a wonderful sunny day, Now i appreciate your reply, and still i have a question. This measurement from the flywheel to finger tip i want to make sure of as the flywheel is not reachable if the clutch disc is in place. So should it be install the pressure plate with-out the disc? and set the fingers, un-bolt and install the disc and plate as normal? or can the thickness of the clutch disc be subtracted from the 1.890 and fingers set with everything assembled to the flywheel? using this new but shorter measurment? from the disc surface to the finger tips?
Its not my machine and manuals are not around here on this model, but the info from here is just as good.

regards and tks

Strictly speaking the thickness of the Clutch plate can be subtracted from the measurement BUT unless the Clutch plate is brand new and unworn, the Clutch will not be set correctly. If you have a new plate it will be fine. The correct way to do it is use three equal spacers (spaced evenly around the pressure plate) that are the thickness of a new plate instead of using the plate, doing it this way will allow you to fit a different plate at sometime without having to re-adjust the Clutch again. As you are only playing with small dimensions it is important that you do it like this rather than use a worn plate.....John

Evening John: I got your reply, and thought i would check the thickness of his clutch plate, The average of ten places/readings of is .345 inches. I wonder what a new one would measure at? and can make 3 shims quite easily to match a new clutch, or this one from the tractor.
Tks
Phil

I knew you would ask me that....lol
I have looked through all the service material but there is nothing that gives that dimension. How worn is the plate that you are using, look at the rivet holes and check how much material there is above the top of the Rivet Head. If you can possibly send me a picture of the Clutch plate so I can see the thickness of the friction material and how much wear there is left above the top of the Rivet Head, then I could form an opinion.
