TEA20 Throttle cork friction disc

Thinking of replacing the current throttle lever friction disc which appears to be rubber and not holding that well even with the spring clamped up tight. Is the cork anything special as I was looking at making one from a cork floor tile. I believe the cork should be about 5mm thick???
Any thoughts appreciated as will probably look to replace the spring as well with one that has a little more grunt.

I cut out a round circle from cork gasket. Worked great. Thickness isn't too much of a concern. Mine was about 1/16" thick. Make sure you degrease the surfaces that it is against.

Cork tile works really well , be sure to remove any surface finish with fine merry paper .
You don't need to remove the entire throttle rod either unless you really do need to replace the spring . Cut the disc out , punch a hole in the centre for the rod and slit it neatly woth a sharp blade . Slip the disc over the rod via the slit and glue with contact adhesive . The throttle rod doesn't travel more than 3/4's of a revolution so there is little if any chance of it ever tearing . If you really need greater resistance to slipping use rubberised cork gasket sheet .
