Technical Manual

Need to locate a John Deere G technical repair manual. YT and any ag parts sellers do not list one.. Even tried John Deere. They have operator's manual nothing else. Can't find one on eBay. Just starting on1947 G.. Was my Sons.. He passed away in May. His son my grandson wants to restore in dads memory. Got pulled part way down, but know technical manual is a must for reassembly.

Deere never did offer service manuals for every letter series model. I've always gotten along between the I&T Jim mentions and the parts manual available to download or print. It's great that your grandson wants to restore it. You'll get a lot of quality time helping and guiding him.

My sincerest condolences on the loss of your son.

Obtain the B Service Manual: it's the most detailed general manual for the styled letter series. Much of the info applies. Also, I believe there is a parts manual for the G.

I use an IT manual for the G's I work on. It is pretty detailed like for end play allowances and torque values. Also good pictures to show how it is assembled. What are you wanting to do to it? Post on here and we can maybe help you out. Sorry to here about your son.

Simple Google search and this showed up. Also some on amazon. Screenshot_20251125_093753_eBay.jpg

My condolences as well. The I and T was significantly helpful that tx jim sent but there’s alot that is not there for the G. Some things on the 70 gas were similar to the late G that went through our shop.

Continue to post back and you will receive as much help here as possible

As said above the B has a ton of info. Sm2004 should be that manual number. Unfortunately it is smaller and there isn’t a whole lot of the torque specs that work for the a or g.

One of the free downloads no one has suggested yet is the unstyled B manual. I can’t find the number my manual is devoid of a number of any sort. Why would I suggest that one? Because it’s 31 pages and is a read in an evening and will get you in the mindset for a 2 cylinder. All the basics will be the same. There isn’t a single torque spec in the book.
