TEF 20 hydraulics jammed up

Hi

A Ferguson 20 I have just bought has got the Hydraulics jammed in the full up position and won't go down. I've pulled the hydraulic cover off. Checked the hydraulic pump and it appears to be pumping oil.

The cross shaft and draft assembly are totally seized and took some amount of heat and bashing to dismantle.

I plan to renew the hydraulic piston rings and a new draft assembly and change the relief valve in the pump.
Apart from that is there anything else I should do or what would have caused this to happen?

Also on the PTO selector lever is there any oil seals in that side plate?
Can't see it mentioned in my manual.

Sounds like a rust problem, not a hydraulics problem.

Was it stored outside for an extended time?

Free up the shaft, see if it will work. It is only gravity down, so doesn't take much to keep it up. Might end up taking it apart if it's rusted badly.

The oil may be water contaminated, but get it working before changing the oil so you don't loose the new oil. It will work with water in it. I would try to put it through the motions first so you don't have to take the top off twice, it's heavy!

No seal I know of on the PTO selector. Oil is only to the bottom bolt of the cover, so no need for a seal.

Thanks. Yes it's a mess. With rust I dismantled the entire lift cover and cleaned everything up and greased and oiled well so far. Wonder is the lift control hard to set on them?
