Temperature gauge help

Can anyone help me with the thread size for the temperature probe on a MF 165 gas engine? My gauge doesn’t work but I find that not all gauges come with the same size bushing to screw in the thermostat housing.

Bushing required may be different between the Perkins gas and the Continental gas. The aftermarket gauge kits I have been getting at the local parts store have several NPT bushings and a metric bushing.

The gauges listed on this site for a MF 165 all appear to come with an adopter. Stiener's lists one that fits both sized.

Can you see the adapter in the engine? I believe if it has straight threads, it will have a sealing washer under the hex of the adapter and tighten tight down on the engine surface. Pipe thread is tapered and generally at least one or two threads will be showing under the hex.

Here is an idea... Just remove orig. Ain,t gonna be no sissy metric. If ya can,t, at that point, figure it out, just bring it to local speed shop, Nappa, et cetera and you are done. No cell phones, mail order, whatever, rock on.
