the ones for the rad hose are afterthough style. IE.. since there was no factory provision originally, they give you an easy install option.. if you really, really wanted a sender in head for better accuracy, you'd need to drill and tap the head. do it in the same place the industrials put it..

I have been seeing several posts over the last couple weeks about the temp gauge and placement of the sending unit either in the hose or the head. My 52 8N has the sending unit in the side of the block that I am assumming is supposed to be the block drain. I dont know what the temp differance would be from place to place but I just put a new thermostat in and working the tractor, temp runs just under 200 degrees.

If you can operate a drill  then drill a hole in a thick wall pipe,,, tap and use loctite to seal the fit'n,,, instant $69 starter kit,,, are send me $69 and I will build you a kit$$$$,,, in the hose is better than nuttin,,, sender twine the thermo and head

i was weary about drillin my head but i did it 2 days ago following hobos websites instructions worked great, not hard to do at all.
