terminal block

I have 1947 2N that has been converted to a 12 volt system. The headlights on the tractor had been disconnected. My guess was that the old lights were 6 volt lights. I replaced the lights with proper 12 volt units, replaced the missing in line fuse coming from the back of the ignition switch, started her up and turned on the lights. Nothing happened. I looked at a 12 volt conversion wiring diagram and noticed that the power supply to the switch is supposed to come from the lower center terminal. One wire from the light switch was plugged into the top left side of the terminal block and the top right side came off the block and ran to the headlights. I do not know what condition my terminal block is in, but I was able to test the light switch and it works. I was just going to by-pass the terminal block all together since it wasnt wired up right anyway and run a power lead off the battery to one end of the light switch and the wire to the headlights on the other side. I will put in an in-line fuse. Think this will work. I also plan to run the power lead off of this same switch to power the reat tail lights and work light.

If you're going through all of that effort, why not just wire it correctly? And get the correct light switch which already has a fuse.

The lights might have been wired that way because some PO probably thought the 6v lights would work if he ran them through the ballast resistor.

I took everyone's advice and went to TSC and got the correct light switch and did it right. Now I have working headlights, tail lights and a working working light. Boy does it look cool.
