Testing hydraulic system?

I have a '52 8n that has a front-end loader but no 3 point hitch implements. I'm looking at purchasing either a rototiller or cultivator to work up some ground on my acreage, but I want to confirm that the hydraulic system is in good working condition in case it needs to be fixed before I spend money on the implement. Is there any way to test the system without something to attach to it?

Thanks,
Justin

Even if the lift works it won't run a rotortiller. Too fast ground speed and not enough power.

Put the PTO in gear and back it up to the bumber of an old vehicle that actually has a bumper and with it in position mode, "Little lever under the
seat pointing up" gradually raise the lift with the touch control lever and see if it will lift the vehicle.

Don't overdo it!

Do as Zane says or by a pressure gauge and put it in the test port and check your hyd pressure. Also as Zane said a tiller will not work behind an 8N. I would look for a disk

Justin, 8Ns are too fast for a rototiller. This kind of implement is what you want to prepare gardens or food plots. Ferguson called it a
general purpose tiller. Also heard them called orchard plows or cultivators.

In north Ga., this implement is called an all purpose plow. Mine looks very similar to this one and it will make the 8n bark. For hard/clay soils this is what you want.
