Testing Seed Sensors

Anyone know of a way to easily test the 3-wire seed sensors used with older John Deere/dickey John monitor systems? Red, black, green wire hookup that powers a light with a photocell sensor. Got some from a JD 1240 that I want to sell but want to check if they are working first, but don't have a working monitor. Thanks.

There are hand held testers available. The sensor needs to be mounted on the seed tube to test them.

My experience with the tester is false positives. I have gotten a good test, yet the sensor will not perform in the field. The sensor will work if you are dropping seed but when you stop seeding the monitor will scream the alarm every time you turn on the ends.

My sensors seem to "get tired" instead of simply a works/doesn't work situation.

My understanding is the surface gets scratched up and holds dust to the point they don?t read right, even if the electrical is working?
