Was going to get on here and do what I do every morning...visit and found a big surprise. An IMAC desktop of mine had completely changed. Checking out the system seems the Ventura issue 13.7.6 is now installed and it is very different than what I had been using. Anybody have that system and would share your feelings about it.....how to get rid of it!!!!

Hit it with a hammer?

You guys are right on track. I have thought about using them for target practice.
So I backed up to Monterrey and it was the same (screen viewing) on start up disc sites. I have another IMAC with High Sierra. about a 2017 version and you can actually make out details in real pictures. Problem is, that a lot of sites have upgraded and some of their functions are beyond the reach of the antiquated software. So I can't purchase items that I think I want because of that....PIA for me as that means a 50 mile trip to town for a 5 cent screw or such.

So the question is.....I may want to buy a different tractor and thanks to the ....er ah...recent Apple mindset, the pictures on the www no way give me any idea as to what I am thinking about buying because of the non pertinent overblown pictures very over use of black backgrounds, and heavy contrast......somebody sitting behind their computer in their pristeen environment with their mind who knows where, has really, really, lost reality!!!!!

So, do I need to get my 3 IMACs out in the field and use them for target practice.....no I still have one with High Sierra and for now allows me to shop with recognizable pictures.....so as of right now, there will only be 2 of the three out there......geez where is this world headed.

I really need some inputs on this. The old software that shows things as they really are other than an unmentioned brain Pfart, doesn't work with some parts suppliers that I need to use....because my software is outdated and not compatible with their system. I'm really getting a case of the cheeks on this........Come on you guys and gals, you can kick in on this. I just went to a www sale site for Microsoft and their pictures and comments are out of this world like with Apple......have we outlived our revelence? Ok fine. I am ready to check out any day....had a belly full of this......stuff

Now you’re going to have to choke up and bunt and follow-up with a punt. Download Google Chrome (you may need someone to help you with this) that is a web browser, it does the same thing Safari does if you use that. Then try that to access the webpages that you claim are not cooperating. Trust me there are going be some differences but should be able to overcome them with some patience and perseverance. Those two last things are going to be key to make this work for you.
One last thing, I don’t know how these machines you are using are equipped but it may that they don’t have the screen resolution/pixels to display a higher resolution files that many newer camera and particularly cell phones provide. There is a possibility that changing a setting could clear that up.
Bottom line is it sounds to me like you’re going to have to decide what your time is worth making the 50 mile trip to town to get a “5 cent nail” I’ll call it. And then decide if you are going to trade some of those $$ for an upgraded computer.

I tried Apple computers twice & they are just not for me. Both still in the closet. Microsoft sucks too, but Linux was not a lot better. Worst problem , to me, is that all of them keep changing such that you need new software followed with new hdwe to work with the new SW! The NEED TO SELL!

I was doing OK with my old machines and I am using one right now but it got to where you couldn't purchase some things online because the vendors upgraded their end and your end didn't fit any longer. So I bought a newer reconditioned unit and it worked ok till this surprise.

Its a real PIA to have to drive 50 miles round trip to get something you need when it used to be dropped off at your farm, usually with free shipping.

I'm past the age of having to keep learning something new.....more of the great Golden Years!

Thanks for your time.

I don't use Chrome but the prompts to use it keep popping up on the screen. Have heard too many bad stories about some of its surprises and just some more fancy software to have to learn. My flip phone is all the phone I need too. The fancy phones are great for folks needing them but I'm not part of that crowd.

Thanks for your time.

Problem with the older software on older computers is they do not support the latest version of TLS (Transport Layer Security) version 1.2 or above used for HTTPS websites and SSL encryption keys of 256 bits or above and HTLM 5.0 for displaying websites. I had to replace my wife's and my IPAD that had 12.5.7 IOS and could not be updated and the IPAD apps could not be updated as well. My mail app quit working as well as the newspaper app and a few other apps that I used. I installed Chrome browser on it and that worked for awhile but eventually it started failing to connect to websites that had updated to newer versions of software. It is like trying to use one of the latest corn planters with all the bells and whistles that require a GPS guidance system, auto steer etc on a 30 year old tractor, it can be done but no USB outlets etc, etc.

I’m on an Apple iPad. Use it for all parts shopping as well as news, YouTube, and everything else. Have never had a problem.

I was searching for some answers this AM and stumbled across a site named Reddit. On there they talked about the coloring and strong contrast.....to the point where you couldn't make out the contents of the image being a "slip-up" and not intentional plus some other bugs. My guess is that one of the employees thought that would be funny or cool or something of the sort to screw up the images.

The good news is that the software in my computer hasn't been hacked. The bad news is that I, like all other Ventura viewers, have to put up with it...plus some other things like edge info is so small you need a magnifying glass to read it plus some others. For the record they included the fact that MS is having similar problems......see a trend here???

Sometimes.... it's all you can do, especially with computers.

At least you got something figured out. Reddit is a somewhat decent place for that. I've found quite a few helpful computer tips on there, but you really should read everything that's said there, in a post. There's always a chance for bad info & there are a lot of great nerds on that site that will call them out.

That site can also be amusing for film camera related issues. Youngsters that pick up an SLR for the first time come up with some interesting predicaments. Especially when it comes to film loading, as there were a lot of different film winding mechanisms designed across who knows how many companies. Then there's all the different formats & sizes & the cameras that go with it.

I'm afraid some of those frustrated youth will be bald by the time they are 18.
