Hello all,
I got the 800 diesel tractor to run! The engine overhaul is performing well. Engine is very smooth, starts easy, and has lots of power. Running it for a while has freed up the governor and the Case-o-Matic drive works very well in all gears in both direct and converter drive. Stays nice and cool and is very clean burning. Only get a light haze at full bore with load.
Thank you to everyone on this site who has helped me through the project!
Now that it is running, I do have a couple of questions. Most importantly, the main rubber fuel line (see pic) into the injection pump rotor head is leaking like a sieve. Maybe a drop every 5 seconds or so when running, slows down when parked. There's no noticeable performance decrease, but I am loosing diesel and would like to avoid that. It appears to be leaking out around the threads, although the threads themselves look to be in good condition. Has anyone run into this problem before, what's the best way to fix it? Even tightened all the way does not stop this leak.
