The Always Reliable 8N

I haven't posted or even visited in a long time. I had sold my farmette and all the aging, but working equipment (Farmall H, MM602, plow, planter, etc) with the exception of a 1952 Ford 8N. I live in the suburbs now on a half acre (I can cut the grass in under 5 minutes with a 6 foot Woods deck) but the Ford doesn't get that much use. Today I went out to the garage and started it for the first time since August. It turned right over and ran as smooth as ever. I am always amazed that something as old as I am (and engineered in my parent's day) works so well. They are great tractors!

My 52 8N is the same age I am and gets used all the time year round.
Been in the family since new.
Daddy and me about 1955 on the N.

I often think, as I start up my 1948 8N, how this little lady (already 7 years older than me) will probably still be running after I'm gone. And to think how many cars and pickups I've ridden into the junkyard, too rusted out and busted up to even try to sell.

My 79 year old 9N may be the most reliable piece of equipment on the property. It?s done all of our snow plowing for many years, and works every summer too.

Merry Christmas everyone!

your 8n is just a hair older then the 53 NAA we have on the farm.

My dads father bought it used at a farm sale in the mid 60's! Dad took Chev grain truck out and loaded it in the back and brought it home. It has been used regularly ever since. Its the first tractor I learned to run while cleaning pens on the dairy.
Shortly after getting married we had a wet 1st crop hay.. I put the old deo side rake on it and showed my wife how to run it, she raked 90% of the hay that crop..
Last summer I needed help moving equipment my daughter volunteered to move the NAA...
WOW, 4 generations of us have run that tractor.. If I have my way ill keep it running for a couple more...

My 8N is about 6 years older than I am.

It's finally broken in, and -- now that it's old enough to be "collectible" -- will be working well past the age of 100.
