About 5 years ago we tried to buy this tractor...it had been sitting in a barn untouched for 12-15 years, we fiddled and got it running and the the owner"s son in law decided he wanted it. He drove it home and promptly parked it in his yard with a shingle over the missing air intake stack and a semi flat stone over the exhaust, brakes on, clutch disengaged. Couple months ago he asked if we were still interested. After getting the brakes unstuck we agreed upon a price that was fair even if it turned out to be just a parts tractor.
Got it home drained the crankcase, filled the cylinders with MMO, PB Blaster, and White Vinegar and let her sit. Monday we pulled the clutch and cleaned and freed it all up (dogs, toggles, slider all frozen solid) put a pipe wrench on the crank and with very little effort the engine turned over. Now she"s sitting in the barn with the tranny, crankcase and cylinders full of Kerosene and MMO while the carb soaks in a can of cleaner (the good stuff from Pa. not the politically correct, eco friendly external_link-Gore approved useless stuff NY is mandated to sell!) getting ready to rebuild. Gonna flush the tank, clean the gas bowl and air cleaner, free up the governor shaft and throttle linkeages yet, then hopefull by Sat steel a carb and battery off another A and see if we got lucky! Fingers crossed!
