The mouse that ate 33 bushels of corn

I posted the other day about a mouse chewing the tops off all the switches on the console of my combine.

Well I went into the Deere dealer and asked the parts guy if he had seen this before. Both he and the mechanic that was at the parts counter said Yeah, it happens. It's a elastoplastic pad that lays over a circuit board switch panel and apparently is quite tasty to the little varmints. In fact the dealer had 7 in stock for their network of stores. At the price of $225 it works out to about 33 bushels of corn that the little buggers ate. Plus the cost of another bucket of TomCat bait!

its my understanding that some flexible plastic parts like what you have and some wire coatings are soybean based ,thus tasty for rodents.

Last winter I had a mouse eat all of the primes pumps on a chain saw, a strimmer, a hedge trimmer and a wood chipper. I thought he was just after the petrol.

Yes I rewired a small trailer with a led kit after a couple months I went to use it and the soy covered wire was ruined

my neighbor has a lot of hickory and oak trees near his house, therefore also a lot of chipmunks. They stashed nuts in his new BMW the first winter. Then they discovered the tasty soy insulation. What a mess.

Keep in mind, they can and will gnaw right through a copper wire.
