the right tool really matters

I decided to remove three clumps of maple trees that were by the corner of my house. For the first two clumps I dug out the dirt, chopped the roots and then tore the heck out of my yard with two Farmall 400s. The last clump was smaller but I decided to try using my winch instead. Sure was easier. I pulled it the rest of the way down after the photo. It stopped raining now and so I can go finish the job. Many of you have an even better tool than a winch, but I do not have them.

I usually use a come-a-long, it doesn't tear up the yard.

No doubt on having the right tool. Imperative. I have finally accumulated the tools necessary to do what has to be done around here. I have a new problem however. Since I can fix whatever breaks and do it more quickly, I have more free time to figure out what to do with it. But it's mitigated somewhat by the fact that being a senior citizen, I need more time to rest between bouts of strenuous work. So the time line kinda balances out.

Now that I have my friend's 100 ft. Ladder truck working I can see various high altitude jobs being a lot easier.
