McCormick-Deering Harvester Thresher power unit has a Continental IY 69 engine . There was no thermostat in the elbow on top of the head. I also have the supplemental owners manual & parts list & it does not list a thermostat ! is this correct ? TIA

Quite possible , as the early tractors used a roll up canvas in from of the rad before shutters.

Y69's don't have thermostats..... there is no need to prevent the water from circulating because it doesn't until there is a temperature difference between the radiator and the block.

We had a 1948 50t Mccormick Deering (IH) baler with the Continental engine. Never had any problem overheating, except one year the radiator leaked, and had to be re-cored. Mark.

back to the combine power unit with the Y 69 Continental : while waiting on machine shop to do it's thing I tore into gearbox reduction unit . I have not tried Bates yet on the following IH part #s but on the engine parts with IH parts #s they couldn't do any good . So here are the part #s for reduction unit I am needing 39469D gskt / 39478D gskt / 18558D seal / 21969D seal anybody out there have these parts stashed away ?
TIA

You'll probably have better luck googling Y-69 Continental as opposed to IHC, if you're talking about engine gaskets. You can't even get a fan belt for a 50-T from C-IH , even though it might be the same as something else in their lineup.
