Thermometers

Picked these up at an auction. Anyone have any idea what type of equipment they would have been used on? Couple look like they have some age on them?

I’ve seen some of those on industrial boilers. The school had some that looked like that. I think the label on the box below says that as well
 
I can think of a few that could use them for rear end thermometers. At 200 degrees it's time to go to the doctor. If those were pressure guages then at 200 psi it's time for a suppository.
 
Any place you need to understand the temperature of fluids in a process. Today, generally, digital gauges are used, but these are still available.
 
They are used on water systems, both hot and cold depending on temperature range, not steam. The thermometers screw into a well which is screwed into the pipe. This allows them to be changed out without draining the system. Wells are specific to the type and brand of thermometer as threads can differ and they need to fit snuggly in order for proper heat transfer from the well to the thermometer.
