Ive always beeen an IH man, currently own a F-12 and have always messed with IH tractors. But theres always been something about old oliver row crop tractors that I have always liked. Im thinking about making one of these my next restoration project. My question is what kind to get,id like to have something small like the f-12 that I have now. Something user friendly and easy to operate. Not knowing these tractors id love to have some feedback on the type of tractor to purchase, Ill start doing some research on my own as well.

A 60 would be perfect, but parts are a bit harder to find than 70 parts. Good luck with whatever you choose.

wacp, i would look for a 55, 66 or 77, the 55 being the smallest and the 77 the largest, the base shipping weight on the 77 is 3640. parts for all these tractors are easy to get. welcome aboard, chuck

Don't know where you are at --- but have an 88 rowcrop for sale.
Either a 1949 or 50 --- have forgotten --- Is NOT perfect -but runs good --- e-mail open

There you go. Ken 46 has just what you need. Rebuild parts are fairly common for an 88.good Tractor. My Dad had a new 88 he bought in 1950 and I had a lot of seat time on it. Good all around tractor for field work, cultivating, cutting hay, runing a baler ,just about any farm work that came it's way until a new Super 99 showed up in 1955 and then it got a lot less work to do.

I bought an 88 for pulling and I was suprised to find how many parts were available for it. Not to say that parts arent available for the other models, just passing along my knowledge to ya. Hope it helps!!!

I have a 1949 88 and have had a 1953 77 and a 1964 1800C. Today, from what I see there are decent supplies for parts and some very good replacement parts being made. Olivers are easy to operate and just about as easy to work on. The 88 I have has been in our family its entire life so I have logged many hours on Olivers. They are a good tractor.

If you are looking for something comparable to an F-12, then an Oliver 60 would be a very close match. The 60 row crops were built during the 1940s and have a 4 cylinder engine vs. the larger models that have 6 cyl.

Along those same lines, a 66 would be very similar also, but the 66s are a newer model as they replaced the model 60s sometime in the late 1940s or early 1950s. The 66s are also 4 cylinder engines.

The Super 55s are pretty neat, but they were built to compete with the Ford tractors of the mid-1950s and they have that same low, squat, wide front, utility tractor style rather than the tall row crop configuration. The Super 55s have live PTO, live hydraulics, and 3 point hitch and are sweet little tractors.
