This ain't right.

It's only March 29th.Last year we had snow on the ground and temps were in the 20s.I know I'm only 54,but I've never saw this.The freakin trees aren't even leafed yet.Went fishin in Macoupin CountyIL today and saw a lot of corn goin in the ground.I planted alfalfa for a friend yesterday in 3 inchs of dust.

I just hope the weather don't go south after the corn gets up if it doesn't rot first. Of course, they may be planting with some of the new polymer coated seed, too. That would let them get the seed in the ground early---

This is a spring to remember. The oats we planted two weeks ago are up and 4 inches tall. Alfalfa is really taking off. Mowed the yard last week and need to again. I planted some sweet corn today so be ready for the weather to take a turn for the worse! I have NOT seen a field planted yet but I here there are some around. Our normal EARLIEST opportunity to plant any real amount of corn would be the 10-15th of April and if we would have wanted to this year we could have all of it allready planted and it has been so warm it would be UP!! Last average freeze here is about April 20th. We will sit and wait for little longer, but it aint easy.

Yes this world is becoming more strange all the time. Wheat is over 18 inches high here in northern Okla. Seems a bit ahead of schedule. A late freeze would not be good. The weather has been very odd. The world is indeed strange these days... In more ways than one....

Here in MI in the fruit belt we had days almsot hit 90deg. Then we got down to 34. Its a little cool now but still above freezing. All fruit trees are out in bloom now so if it freezes we are done.

We had a few days of 80-90+ then down to nearly 0 at night for nearly a week now. The river ice had run but it froze over again!

Temperatures appear to be trending closer to normal for this time of year for the next week or so. Highs in the 40's mostly, a couple days in the 50's, and one in the 60's.

All the fruit growers are freaking out because the temps are dropping below freezing at night. The apple trees have blossomed already.

I planted oats yesterday. We've got freezing rain sticking to the fences and gates this morning. Guess everything averages out. Two years ago,I planted March 31 and the weather stayed decent. Last year was so cold and wet,I didn't get them in until May 5th.

We had a very mild winter and the 5th warmest March on record.

We usually take an early cutting on the coastal field over Memorial weekend. This year, we will probably cut the end of April.

Trees are leafed out, pears have bloomed and the fruit is already the size of marbles.
