This is getting old

Here in the Shenandoah we got 34% of our normal June rain and do far less than 25% for July.
Some of the farmers in my area are already feeding the hay that they bailed last month. Pasture is toast. If we don't get rain soon it's going to be a long winter and who knows what is going to happen to cattle prices.

The soybean plant has been genetically modified to be resistant to certain/specific herbicides. Mark.
And that brings up another issue. Genetically altered. Read about Wheat Belly and what they have done to wheat since the 80's and our obesity problems. Think low carbs.

Neighbor who puts up most of the hay in my lilltle valley lost a few days the last week in June, but since the 1st its been steady for 3 JD swathers, two Freeman Sp small balers, two 3x4 balers, 1 Sp NH stacker, and crew of 15.

I think that is mostly BS, promoted by folks that want to sell you their health lifestyle diet plan/book. High fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated vegetable oils have a lot more to do with obesity and the gluten in wheat flour ever will.

Ok. I cut those out years ago and I don't see much of those on food labels anymore so if we rule those out then something else must be doing it. Fast food?

I just spent a little over 2 hours mowing hay. Much of what I had first cut with out stopping and picking it up looked like it was already starting to dry but it is in the low 90s today and a bit of a wind

I am with you, we did have any rain forecast till Wednesday. Cut hay yesterday and rake when I got from the trap shoot, getting sprayer ready to finish spraying and we just got a half inch or close to it. Just love it.

PICTURES ! That sounds like a cool thing to watch.

I want to get hay done but where I live I have not had 3-4 days of no rain. 7:25 this morning there was a very loud thunder clap and been raining ever since. Yesterday morning it rained and we got 1.5 inches. Day before we got around 1/4 inch. I've put up all of 7 round bales so far this year. Hay mower broke down and I fixed it but ever since we have had rain every day or ever other day
Forecast looked good last week so I cut 10 acres grass alf mix. just about dry and popup shower dumped half inch. Finally dried out again yesterday so we baled it up. This is first cutting and way to mature and it looks awful. 90% of my customers are horse women. Their not going to buy this and I don't blame them but if they need hay soon here in so mn their going to have to lower their standards.

I cut hay today and it looked pretty good with the undergrowth nice and green. Seem the fact we have had a lot of rain seemed to slow it down growing

Fast food is loaded with the things i listed, including high sodium content.
You are right Bruce, High fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated vegetable oils along with sodium are in many common foods that we buy at the grocery store and are creating long term health problems for many.

Probably so Bruce. I go in tomorrow for blood tests. They have been consistently low for sodium the last few years. They tell me to use more salt but still not enough apparently. Will see how this year's test comes out.

Bad year for hay. It's been raining here since May. Finally stopped but very wet.
