We're looking at retiring to a small farm/home stead of 30-50 acres in East Texas. Planning to raise some beef, pigs, chickens, hay, etc. Looking for a tractor in the 50hp range with a front end loader. Want something pre-computer & emissions that I can work on. Yet with more modern hydraulics than older tractors have. Any thoughts on a 2350? Suggestions on other models?

Generally, a good tractor. As with any tractor individual history is important. Coolant changed periodically to minimize risk
of engine cylinder cavitation. Hydraulics fully functional with no gremlins. Clean hydraulic fluid indicating no contamination.
If equipped with SGB all controls such as windshield wipers, AC, and heat work.

AC didn't operate very good on NEW 2350's. Printed circuit board on cab models was not one of JD engineers most shining moments. normally hyd are good if correct maintenance has been performed. Be wary if hyd oil is milky colored indicting presence of moisture in hyd system.

I should have added that 4-wheel drive would be a big plus as well. Anyone have other suggestions for JD's that would be a good fit?
