Thoughts on SHELL SPIRAX S4 TXM

(quoted from post at 06:48:52 11/08/17) Has anybody used, SHELL SPIRAX S4 TXM for your 8n hydraulics? if so what were your thoughts on it??

Thanks
I would not use any 10w30 oil in a transmission that calls for 90 wt oil.

It is a premium UTF and as such a generic equivalent to Ford M2C-134. Here is a link to the technical data sheet:

Shell Spirax S4 TXN Technical Data Sheet (PDF)

Unless you have an "inside" source of supply it will likely cost you double or more what other premium UTF's sell for so let your pocket book be your guide. If the cost is not an issue go for it.

Read the data sheet I linked in a previous reply. Keep in mind that SAE 10W30 and SAE 85 are essentially the same working viscosity and the Spirax product has almost exactly the same viscosity characteristics as CNH/Ford's M2C-134D tractor transmission oil. From the TDS:[list:ce53267e9e][*:ce53267e9e]Spirax S4 TXM can be used when an SAE J306 85W grade is recommended[*:ce53267e9e]API Gear Performance: GL-4[/list:u:ce53267e9e]That is pretty much exactly what Ford was recommending in the 50's (e.g. before UTF's came into being)

Thanks guys,

I can get it at somewhat of a discount through my work and wanted to see if anyone else had used it and what there thought of it were.
