Threaded Post

Hi all,
I have a 1950 M, just in front of my gas tank there is a threaded stud about 3/8 or 1/2. I was wondering if anyone happens to know just what used to thread on to this stud?

if it sticks straight up in the air above the steering shaft, it is for a wing nut that holds the rear of the hood down.

Glennster, was this anything fancy or just a plain old wingnut? I would kind of like to put it back together the way it was.

On our 39 M, it was just a plain old wingnut.

yup just a plain ole wingnut. i put a rubber washer on first, then a flat washer, that way the vibration doesnt chew thru the paint on the hood.

My Dad's Super MTA has that stud too, now I know what it is for. Thanks.
