three point doesn't move

I have a 1953 Ford Golden Jubilee, the three point has quit lifting, it was working and after being parked for a couple weeks it doesn't move. The pump was making noise, I changed fluid ( it looked like mud) put in new fluid. I have now taken pump off and apart..it looks great, cannot see anything wrong with pump..have ordered repair parts for pump...what's next??? Help?? I have repair manual, however it doesn't help much with diagnosing...thanks ...Dick

Did you prime the pump after you reinstalled it? Lack of prime would prevent any fluid from moving.

Make sure there that the intake screen for the pump not plugged. This would also prevent flow and potentially starve the pump for fluid.

You can install a gauge in the gauge port of the pump, crack a line on the output side of the pump, start the pump and watch the gauge to see if the pressure comes up. If you have pressure and the pump is quiet, then check to see if you have flow from the directional valve. If you have flow and it still doesn't move, check the cylinder for leakage or blow by.......rw

Thanks for reply, I am rebuilding pump and when it is complete I will check as you suggest. When I dissasembled the pump nothing looked out of place, but since it came apart it needed seals etc. so I'm rebuiling it. Hope I don't have to get under the cover to do the cylinder...will see..appreciate your help...Dick
